August Paint-Out with CAL

  • Wed, August 18, 2021
  • 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Deacon Baldy's, 5447 Farm to Market Rd. 1488, Magnolia

Registration is closed

The Conroe Art League has invited us to join them on their next paint-out event scheduled for Wednesday, August 18 at Deacon Baldy’s, a food truck park located at 5447 Farm to Market Rd 1488, Magnolia, TX 77354. This is a fun place to sketch or paint, with 4 or 5 colorful food trucks, a large outdoor bar and plenty of people-watching.  This location will work best for urban sketching and the use of pens, markers, pencils, charcoals, various crayons, watercolors and gouache.  Please do not bring oil paints or acrylics as a courtesy to our hosts.

We will be under cover at the large pavilion with industrial-sized fans from 11:00-12:30 and you are welcome to stay longer if you wish. There are over 20 picnic tables so you can spread out. Although this should be fairly safe, we recommend that you bring along a mask in case you wind up sitting with someone you don’t know very well.  Our primary concern is that everyone stays SAFE.

Deacon Baldy's is easy to miss. It is on the left-hand side if you’re driving west towards Magnolia.  The parking lot usually opens at 11:00, so if you arrive before then, you may not be able to get in.

The fans keep the temperature relatively comfortable but please dress casually for summer weather. The food is terrific and there are plenty of options for beverages at the bar. Please be courteous and do not bring drinks or food from home or another restaurant.  Please feel free to eat or drink while working and you are welcomed to stay as long as you like.  Friends and supervised children are also welcomed, you do not need to belong to WAL or CAL for this event.
