    Drawing Workshop - Materials, Methods, Features, Faces and Figures 

    This Drawing workshop begins with three days of comprehensive discussion, demonstration and understanding of drawing materials, methods and concepts. Graphite and charcoal on paper will be the main drawing tools utilized and the exercises will include selected drawings from the Charles Bargue Drawing Course by Gerald Ackerman.  Each day will begin with the demonstration and explanation of key concepts followed by drawing time with help and individual guidance.

    5-Day Workshop by Thomas Jefferson Kitts

    Dates: June 3 to June 7, 2024 Level: Intermediate to Advanced

    Fee: $650 (members) | $750 (non-members)

    Media: All media welcome (Demos will be in oil)

    Location: In and around The Woodlands, Texas (near Houston) (Woodlands Art League, 701 Sawdust, The Woodlands, Texas, 77380) 

    This 5-day workshop will teach you how to sketch, paint, and photograph in the field – then how to use the references you’ve gathered to produce more carefully considered work in the comfort of your studio… 

    Workshop Itinerary:

    Day 1-3 | Field – Students sketch, paint en plein air, and photograph with assistance from the instructor, and watch instructional demos that highlight important painting skills & concepts each day. (Mixing, paint application, composing on the fly, and much more) The afternoon of Day 3, we will move into the studio where students can observe Thomas execute a larger, more finished painting in the studio using field references, where he will continue to explain his methods & techniques and answer ongoing questions from the class..
